museum of venanzio crocetti (
Museo venanzio Crocetti )
The
museum, opened in 2002, exhibits an important
collection of works associated with the
sculptor Venanzio Crocetti (1913-2003), member
of the Accademia di San Luca and professor of
sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti in
Venice, famous above all for having executed
one of the doors of the Basilica of St Peter
inaugurated by Paul VI in 1966.
It
contains about a hundred of his works, which include
sculptures, drawings and oils,
in a permanent display which is periodically
accompanied by temporary exhibitions.
The
basement is of major interest, with its
chapel decorated with marble bas-reliefs
and bronze candelabra wrought by Crocetti
himself.
The
museum is located in what was the artist's
live-in studio from 1951 onwards.
